Dock Issue DIE PROOFS OF VIGNETTE
The first die proof is dated 9th Dec 1901 but it took until 16th March 1902 before the die was finalized. During this
period small alterations were made to the die as can be seen on the two proofs shown below. As a result of the
alterations there are two state-s of the die.
STATE 1
Dated 9th Dec. 1901 with uncleared surround. And shows:- (a) lines for the water (b) long shading lines on the sails of
left ship (c) thin lines of the rings of the bollards.
STATE2
State 2 shows a clear surround and :- (a) thinner lines for water (b) shorter shading lines on the sails and (c) heavy
outlines of the rings below bollards.
